Alliance Resource Partners lifts quarterly profit as coal costs fall
Alliance Resource Partners ($ARLP) reported third-quarter 2026 revenue of $603 million, up 5.5% year on year, and attributable net income of $139.6 million, up 46.8%. Earnings were $1.08 per unit. Adjusted EBITDA attributable to the partnership increased 26.3% to $233.9 million. Higher coal shipments and record oil-and-gas royalties supported revenue, while the coal segment’s adjusted expense per ton declined 13.1%.
The partnership’s updated 2026 outlook calls for coal sales of 34.5 million to 35.5 million short tons. It has also committed and priced 31.7 million tons for 2027, providing visibility into future volumes. The profit improvement includes a $16.5 million increase in digital-asset fair values and a $6.3 million investment remeasurement gain, partly offset by derivative losses. Those items mean the reported earnings increase was not solely an improvement in mining operations.
