FAA certification clears Boeing’s largest 737 MAX variant for deliveries
The Federal Aviation Administration has issued an amended type certificate for Boeing ($BA)’s 737-10, the largest member of the 737 MAX family. The decision follows a flight-test campaign of almost 1,000 flights and more than 2,000 flying hours. Boeing expects initial customer deliveries in the coming months; certification does not mean those aircraft have already been handed over to airlines.
The 737-10 can accommodate up to 230 passengers and incorporates an enhanced angle-of-attack system. Final certification removes an important regulatory obstacle between Boeing’s development program and commercial deliveries, although production, customer preparation and individual aircraft acceptance still affect delivery timing. For Boeing, the approval opens a route to converting the model’s order book into deliveries and associated cash receipts. It does not, by itself, determine the pace of production or the timing of customer payments.
