FAA says software review will delay Boeing’s MAX 10 certification

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration says software problems will delay certification of Boeing ($BA)’s 737 MAX 10, the largest variant in the family. Reuters reported that agency chief Bryan Bedford said approval would wait until regulators were satisfied about the issue. This adds explicit regulatory confirmation to earlier reporting about the software concern; it is not a certification decision granting clearance.

The implication is further uncertainty around the programme’s path into customer service. For Boeing, a later approval could shift delivery-related cash flows and complicate production and airline planning. The brief report gives no revised certification date, quantified earnings impact or specified length of delay. Those financial consequences remain conditional rather than a new company forecast.
