Babcock keeps outlook unchanged after strong start in nuclear and aviation
Babcock ($BAB) said trading in the first five months of financial year 2027 remained in line with expectations, leaving its full-year outlook and medium-term guidance unchanged. Nuclear and aviation operations continued to perform strongly, while demand across its core defense markets remained robust. The statement confirms existing expectations rather than raising them.
The period’s operational highlights include a C$1.2 billion, six-year extension for Canadian submarine support and preferred-bidder status for an eight-year French combat-flight training contract. These are developments cited in the trading review, not necessarily contracts first announced with it. Babcock also reported issuing a £250 million six-year sterling bond to extend its debt maturity profile. Management continues to emphasize delivery, cash generation and selective investment as demand expands.
