BlackBerry lifts projected QNX royalties above $1.2 billion after major design win

BlackBerry ($BB) said QNX’s projected royalty backlog now exceeds $1.2 billion, compared with $950 million at the end of fiscal 2026, an increase of more than 26%. The update includes the first Alloy Kore design win, with estimated lifetime royalties exceeding $100 million, which the company described as its largest such award. Greater software content per vehicle and demand beyond automotive applications also support the opportunity.

The figures are estimates of future royalties derived from expected production volumes and contractual royalty rates, not an unconditional purchase-order balance or cash already earned. Customer production schedules, volumes and contract changes can affect how much is eventually recognized. The result is commercially significant because it expands the potential revenue base for QNX, including SDP 8 and applications in industrial systems and robotics, but the timing and realization of those projected royalties remain uncertain.
