BlackBerry QNX selected for camera platform targeting global vehicle rollout

BlackBerry ($BB)’s QNX unit is collaborating with neueHCT on an intelligent-camera platform selected by an unnamed German vehicle manufacturer. The HCT Luna platform combines Horizon Robotics’ Journey 6B processor with QNX OS for Safety 8. It is intended for vehicles sold in China, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea, with production scheduled to begin in 2027.

The selection expands QNX’s role in safety-critical automotive computing and could create a multiyear software deployment opportunity. The partners project several million equipped vehicles during the first three production years, but that is a volume forecast rather than a guaranteed purchase commitment. Neither licensing revenue nor financial terms were disclosed. Execution still depends on the vehicle programme reaching production and achieving expected sales; the announcement does not mean those vehicles or associated revenues already exist.
