Franklin Templeton agrees majority investment in Stoneshield Capital
Franklin Templeton ($BEN), through its real-estate subsidiary Clarion Partners, agreed to acquire a majority stake in European investment manager Stoneshield Capital. Stoneshield manages approximately $9 billion in assets across areas including student housing, digital infrastructure, science facilities, hospitality and other critical infrastructure. The acquisition would broaden Clarion’s European strategies beyond its existing logistics and net-lease businesses.
Franklin Templeton said the combination would roughly triple Clarion’s European assets under management to $13 billion and lift its total to $82 billion. These figures describe managed assets, not the purchase price, which was not disclosed. Completion is expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory filings and customary conditions. The deal would also take Franklin Templeton’s alternatives assets under management above $300 billion.
