Business First replaces prior buyback with a new $30 million authorization
Business First Bancshares ($BFST) approved a new program permitting up to $30 million of common-share repurchases over two years. The authorization replaces an existing program that still had approximately $12.4 million available. That unused balance will not remain separately available, so the new ceiling should not be added to it when assessing the bank’s total repurchase capacity.
Management may buy shares through open-market trades, privately negotiated transactions or compliant trading plans, depending on prices, liquidity, financial condition and regulatory considerations. The board can change, suspend or terminate the program, and no purchases are mandatory. The decision refreshes the bank’s capacity to return capital and potentially reduce its share count, but it does not represent money already distributed. It is separate from the quarterly earnings update included in the preceding digest.
