Bank of Marin earnings grow 32% as margins widen, with credit migration in focus

Bank of Marin ($BMRC) reported third-quarter 2026 net income of $9.9 million, compared with $7.5 million a year earlier. Diluted earnings rose 32% to $0.62 per share. Higher loan yields, lower deposit costs and expense control supported the improvement, while its tax-equivalent net interest margin increased ten basis points from the second quarter to 3.48%. Loan growth included both new originations and a purchased California residential-loan pool.

Credit metrics were mixed. Classified loans increased to $35 million from $19.9 million at the previous quarter-end, largely reflecting a $14.1 million commercial real-estate relationship facing borrower-specific difficulties. The bank said that borrower remained current, the loan was well collateralized and no loss was expected. Nonaccrual loans rose to $9.7 million, or 0.45% of loans. These changes merit attention alongside the stronger earnings and margin performance.
