Babcock & Wilcox receives an early-work award for a roughly $130 million project

Babcock & Wilcox ($BW) received a limited notice to proceed on an air-quality project at a US coal-fired power plant with an estimated total value of approximately $130 million. The initial authorization covers activities including engineering, development work and procurement of long-lead equipment. Its construction business is expected to handle installation and construction work as the project progresses.

The distinction between the preliminary award and the full project value is important. A limited notice to proceed does not establish that the entire estimated $130 million has become unconditional revenue or that all construction phases have been authorized. The company described the project as supporting emissions control and reliable power generation, but did not name the plant owner in the announcement. Further project authorization and execution remain necessary before the full opportunity can be realized.
