Argentina extends airport concession to 2056 under investment overhaul
Corporación América Airports ($CAAP) said Argentina has approved changes to its subsidiary’s airport concession, extending its expiry to February 2056. The revised framework anticipates approximately $7.3 billion of investment including VAT over the concession term, largely funded through infrastructure trusts. Aeropuertos Argentina itself commits $600 million of direct investment, while approximately $1.5 billion of the overall program is scheduled for 2027–2031.
The extension gives the operator a longer period to recover investment. Passenger charges will be dollar-denominated, with the domestic fee rising to $9 from the start of 2027; the concession fee remains 15% of gross revenue. The $7.3 billion program is not wholly a corporate funding obligation, and the agreed 14.30% financial-plan return is a contractual planning assumption rather than a guaranteed realized shareholder return.
