Instacart sale reports now include Uber’s withdrawal

Instacart ($CART) explored a potential sale and held preliminary discussions with DoorDash ($DASH), The Information reported. Bloomberg subsequently said Uber ($UBER) had walked away from its own talks with the grocery-delivery company and that those discussions had ended. No binding agreement or agreed purchase price has been announced.

An acquisition could combine Instacart’s grocery marketplace and retailer relationships with a larger delivery platform; the implications would depend on any eventual terms and regulatory review. Uber and Instacart already have a commercial partnership, announced in 2024, bringing Uber Eats restaurant ordering into the Instacart app, with Uber handling fulfillment. That existing arrangement is separate from the reported sale process and does not establish an acquisition commitment.
