Constellation and Amazon sign 20-year nuclear-power agreement

Constellation ($CEG) and Amazon ($AMZN) announced a 20-year agreement covering 690 megawatts of nuclear power from the Calvert Cliffs station, including 190 megawatts of planned additional capacity. The arrangement supports more than $3 billion of related Maryland infrastructure investment and a proposed operating-license extension. The incremental capacity is expected to enter service between 2030 and 2032.

The contract provides a long-duration demand commitment for Constellation while supporting Amazon’s electricity requirements across the PJM region. Power will enter the regional grid rather than flow directly to a dedicated on-site data center. The investment figure is not the purchase agreement’s price or an upfront payment by Amazon, and the additional output is not available today. Plant improvements and the proposed license extension still involve execution and regulatory requirements; neither has been presented as completed.
