CME plans European dairy futures and options through EEX transition

CME Group ($CME) agreed with the European Energy Exchange to transition EEX’s European dairy business, including its butter and skimmed-milk-powder indices, as EEX phases out those products. CME plans to establish its own European dairy indices and introduce related futures and options, expanding the range of agricultural price-risk management products available on its markets.

The transition is expected to take place before the end of 2027, subject to closing conditions. Existing EEX dairy futures will remain available for their already-listed maturities, and the announcement does not immediately change the existing dairy indices. The agreement is therefore a planned transfer and product-development program, not an immediate shutdown of all outstanding contracts. The companies did not disclose a purchase price or a projected revenue contribution for CME.
