Coherent expands high-capacity pluggable optical networking systems
Coherent ($COHR) expanded its pluggable optical line-system portfolio with full-C-band products designed for higher-capacity links. The systems support up to 32 wavelengths at 800 gigabits per second, allowing as much as 25.6 terabits per second over a fiber pair across distances of approximately two to 200 kilometers.
The compact modules fit standard transceiver slots and combine higher-power amplification with features for automated setup, protection and laser safety. Coherent said the products are generally available and already shipping in volume, distinguishing this from an early research demonstration. The capacity specifications describe supported configurations rather than performance guaranteed for every network. The release does not identify a new customer order value or revise financial guidance for the business.
