Coherent introduces PhotonLink platform for AI optical connectivity

Coherent ($COHR) introduced PhotonLink as an integrated optical-connectivity platform spanning co-packaged optics, near-packaged optics and chip-to-chip connections. The company also outlined demonstrations of a 3.2-terabit pluggable optical module and a 6.4-terabit near-packaged optical engine, expanding the technologies it is presenting for AI infrastructure.

The announcements address several ways of moving more data between chips and systems while managing packaging and fiber-connection requirements. Further PhotonLink details remain forthcoming, and the demonstrations should not be treated as confirmed volume shipments or customer orders. No new revenue forecast was disclosed. PhotonLink broadens the company’s portfolio beyond individual optical components, but the commercial scale and rollout timetable were not quantified.
