Disney creates an enterprise technology role to coordinate AI and platforms

Disney ($DIS) appointed Karandeep Anand to a newly created senior vice president and enterprise chief technology officer position, effective October 2. Anand, currently chief executive of Character.AI, will report to Disney chief executive Josh D’Amaro. The role is intended to coordinate enterprise technology across the company’s businesses.

Responsibilities include infrastructure, data and AI platforms, and product engineering. Disney also expects some technical staff from Character.AI to join. The announcement concerns executive recruitment and an internal technology structure, not an acquisition of Character.AI. It does not disclose a purchase price, a new licensing agreement or a quantified financial target. The significance is the consolidation of technology leadership rather than proof that a specific AI product has already launched.
