Leonardo DRS wins $39.6 million naval communications award

Leonardo DRS ($DRS) received a $39.6 million Naval Air Systems Command contract for Joint Tactical Terminal Transceiver units. The award covers engineering, production, aircraft integration, qualification and support for the EA-18G Growler. Work will be carried out through the company’s Airborne and Intelligence Systems business.

The terminal supports the Navy’s Global Lightning initiative and is designed to provide multiple communications pathways, including government and commercial satellite networks. Its modular architecture is intended to accommodate later upgrades. The announced value relates to the awarded contract, not revenue recognized immediately, and no delivery timetable or earnings contribution was disclosed in the release. The agreement strengthens an existing naval-aviation product program rather than announcing a new aircraft platform.
