Elme shares suspended as NYSE begins delisting proceedings
The New York Stock Exchange immediately suspended trading in Elme Communities ($ELME) shares and began delisting proceedings because of their abnormally low selling price. Elme does not intend to appeal, citing its existing liquidation plan. The company expects its shares to begin over-the-counter trading under the symbol ELMES on October 26, although an active market and adequate liquidity are not assured.
Elme continues to target voluntary dissolution on November 6, 2026, with its transfer books expected to close the preceding day. Remaining assets and liabilities would move into a liquidating trust, and shareholders would automatically receive proportional beneficial interests. Those interests would generally be nontransferable and would not trade. Any further distributions depend on cash left after liabilities and winddown costs, with amounts and timing determined by the trustee.
