Elastic launches managed vector database for AI applications
Elastic ($ESTC) launched Elasticsearch Vector Database on Elastic Cloud Serverless, offering a managed service for AI search workloads. The product combines vector and keyword retrieval with document processing, embeddings and infrastructure management, reducing the components developers need to assemble themselves.
The service supports text, image and other multimodal vectors, with pricing based on data and search capacity. Elastic says its compression technology can reduce vector-memory requirements by up to 32 times, a performance claim that depends on the workload and configuration. Unlike a product merely scheduled for release, the database is available now. The announcement contains no separate customer-booking figure or revenue guidance, so the launch should not be presented as evidence of a quantified earnings contribution.
