First Solar lowers sales outlook and authorizes a $500 million buyback

First Solar ($FSLR) reduced its 2026 sales forecast to $4.6–4.9 billion from $4.9–5.2 billion, with expected module shipments lowered to 16–17 gigawatts from 17–18.2 gigawatts. Its adjusted EBITDA range moved to $2.55–2.75 billion from $2.6–2.8 billion. The company also cut planned capital expenditure to $600–800 million from $800 million–$1 billion, changing the balance between near-term deliveries and investment.

Third-quarter 2026 sales fell 23% to $1.23 billion as module volumes declined, but net income increased to $571 million, or $5.30 per diluted share, from $456 million and $4.24. Separately, the board authorized up to $500 million of share repurchases. That authorization provides discretion to return capital; it does not establish that purchases have occurred or require the full amount to be spent.
