Glacier Bancorp authorizes up to $200 million of share repurchases

Glacier Bancorp ($GBCI)’s board approved a program allowing the banking group to buy back up to $200 million of its common shares through the end of 2027. Purchases may be made on the open market, through block trades or in privately negotiated transactions, subject to applicable securities-law requirements. The decision gives management a defined pool of capital it may return through repurchases.

The authorization sets a maximum budget, without requiring a minimum number of shares to be purchased. Senior management will determine the timing, frequency and volume of transactions. Any eventual reduction in shares outstanding will therefore depend on actual execution and the prices paid. The announcement establishes a capital-allocation option; it does not report $200 million already spent, a fixed cash distribution to every shareholder or a guaranteed increase in earnings per share.
