Gilead raises its sales outlook but projects a deeper acquisition-driven annual loss
Gilead ($GILD) increased its 2026 product-sales forecast to $31.0–$31.3 billion from $30.1–$30.4 billion after third-quarter 2026 product revenue rose 13% to $8.3 billion. HIV sales grew 18% to $6.2 billion, supported by demand, pricing and favorable inventory movements. Biktarvy generated $4.1 billion. Adjusted quarterly earnings reached $2.55 per share, compared with $2.47 a year earlier, while reported EPS fell to $1.94.
Despite the sales upgrade, Gilead widened its forecast adjusted annual loss to $0.85–$1.20 per share from $0.30–$0.65. Both reported and adjusted annual guidance include $12.4 billion of acquired research charges, with an approximately $9.88 per-share net impact after related collaboration and tax effects. The accounting burden separates strong commercial growth from projected annual profitability. The revised outlook reflects substantial pipeline investment alongside commercial expansion, with acquisition expenses affecting the annual earnings forecast.
