Molten secures a £175m first close for its Growth Fund, including £75m from British Business Bank
Molten Ventures announced the first close of its Growth Fund on 7 September 2026.
Capital commitments
The initial £175m comprises a £75m cornerstone commitment from British Business Bank and £100m committed by Molten.
The target final fund size is £350m. The difference between the first close and that target remains to be raised.
Investment approach
The fund will pursue Series B and later-stage investments in UK and European technology companies, continuing Molten's existing growth-investment approach.
Management sees the vehicle as a way to expand third-party capital under management and support larger ownership positions in selected companies.
What this means for shareholders
The £175m is fund commitments, not £175m of external cash raised by the listed company. Molten itself supplies the majority of the first close and therefore retains capital obligations and investment exposure.
The next milestones are further fundraising, actual capital deployment and eventual investment returns. Fund scale alone does not establish a particular level of fees, carried interest or profit for Molten shareholders.
