HBT earnings rise as acquired scale and asset repricing lift income
HBT Financial ($HBT) reported third-quarter 2026 net income of $31.4 million, or $0.86 per diluted share, compared with $19.8 million and $0.63 a year earlier. Net interest income increased 40.7% year on year, helped by the larger asset base following its completed CNB merger and better loan and securities yields. Its reported net interest margin reached 4.35%, three basis points above the second quarter.
The results therefore reflect acquired scale as well as operating improvement. Nonperforming assets represented 0.16% of total assets, and the quarter benefited from a $600,000 negative credit-loss provision and a $400,000 excise-tax refund. The common equity Tier 1 capital ratio was 12.94%. The separately announced Tri-County acquisition remains pending, with closing expected in early 2027 subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals; it is not included as a completed acquisition in these results.
