Hapag-Lloyd lifts annual profit outlook on stronger freight markets
Hapag-Lloyd ($HLAG) has raised its 2026 earnings forecast again after stronger demand and spot freight rates improved its trading outlook. The container-shipping group now expects EBITDA of $3.9 billion to $4.4 billion, compared with its previous $2.7 billion to $3.7 billion range. Expected operating profit has risen to $1.25 billion to $1.75 billion from $100 million to $1.1 billion.
The revision points to a considerably stronger earnings contribution from current market conditions than management had previously assumed. It is a forecast for the full year, however, not a report of completed annual results. The company emphasized that freight-rate volatility and geopolitical developments continue to create substantial uncertainty, meaning the improved outlook remains sensitive to conditions during the rest of the year.
