Interactive Brokers introduces three programs for Japanese clients
Interactive Brokers ($IBKR) launched three programs through its Japanese subsidiary: revised margin financing, income on eligible foreign-currency cash and a securities-lending service. Under the margin approach, interest is charged on the amount borrowed rather than the entire position value. The cash program uses overnight currency swaps when the relevant foreign-currency rate exceeds the yen rate.
The stock-lending program pays participating clients half of the market-based borrow rate on eligible fully paid shares. Actual income and financing costs depend on rates, balances, eligibility and market demand. The launch expands the products available to Japanese customers; it does not guarantee a particular return or eliminate investment risks. Interactive Brokers did not provide a separate forecast for incremental revenue from the three programs.
