IBU-tec receives building approval for its 15,000-tonne LFP platform

IBU-tec announced a construction-permitting milestone on 7 September 2026.

Permit scope

Saxony-Anhalt's State Administrative Office approved new operating buildings for the 15,000-tonne-per-year battery-material platform at Bitterfeld-Wolfen, including a laboratory.

Detailed engineering has begun. A logistics warehouse structure is erected, with interior completion expected by year-end. Spray-tower trial operation is scheduled for the end of Q4.

Commercial framework

Industrial production is targeted for early 2028. The company says PowerCo has secured the entire capacity for ten years at already defined prices.

That existing capacity agreement is important context, but today's announcement concerns the building permit rather than a new additional customer order.

What remains to be delivered

The permit advances construction readiness; it is not confirmation that the plant is commissioned or producing saleable material.

The next milestones are equipment installation, testing, customer qualification and delivery against the planned start date. The release does not quantify an updated project cost, financing gap or earnings contribution from the future capacity.
