Inventiva reports €69.5 million loss ahead of pivotal readout

Inventiva ($IVA) reported a first-half net loss of €69.5 million, compared with €175.9 million a year earlier. Research and development spending increased to €46.2 million, while general and administrative expenses rose to €22.2 million as the company prepared for potential commercialization of lanifibranor. Cash and cash equivalents were €166.1 million, supplemented by €67.8 million in short-term deposits at the half-year end.

The company maintained its cash-runway guidance and expects topline results from the Phase 3 NATiV3 trial in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis during the fourth quarter. The narrower net loss should not be mistaken for lower operating spending: financing-related accounting effects materially influenced the year-on-year comparison. Lanifibranor remains investigational, so commercialization preparations and the expected readout are not evidence of approval or future product revenue.
