Johnson & Johnson says Tremfya meets axial psoriatic-arthritis trial goals
Johnson & Johnson ($JNJ) said Tremfya met the primary and key secondary endpoints in STAR, a randomized, double-blind Phase 4 study in patients with axial manifestations of psoriatic arthritis. The company reported improvement over placebo on the BASDAI disease-activity measure at week 24, together with positive findings on an additional disease-activity assessment and MRI measures of inflammation.
The announcement did not provide numerical effect sizes, with detailed results reserved for a future scientific presentation. No new safety signals were identified, according to the company. The study adds evidence concerning an important manifestation of psoriatic arthritis, but the topline statement should not be read as a new regulatory approval or as evidence about every cause of inflammatory back pain.
