Kodiak starts California grocery deliveries with DTL under a testing permit
Kodiak AI ($KDK) and DTL Transport began a pilot hauling perishable goods between Fresno and a Los Angeles distribution center. The approximately 225-mile route follows major California freight corridors and uses Kodiak’s autonomous-driving technology under a heavy-duty vehicle testing permit. The work is intended to evaluate how autonomy can support time-sensitive grocery logistics.
A human safety driver remains behind the wheel during the initial pilot. The permit is part of a phased process toward driverless testing and deployment, not permission to remove drivers immediately from this California operation. The partners will assess transit times, shipping costs and produce handling before considering further expansion. No contract value or quantified revenue contribution was disclosed, and broader driverless operations remain a separate development objective.
