Samsung pledges $1 billion to KKR-backed AI infrastructure platform
Samsung has committed $1 billion to Helix Digital Infrastructure, the AI-infrastructure company formed by KKR ($KKR). The pledge supplements more than $10 billion committed by founding investors, including KKR, Kuwait Investment Authority, Nvidia and Vistra. Helix intends to finance and deliver data centres, electricity infrastructure, connectivity and related assets for large cloud-computing customers in North America and other markets.
For KKR, this is exposure through a sponsored infrastructure platform, not a $1 billion payment directly to the listed parent. Additional long-duration capital could support larger projects and broaden the platform’s financing base. Helix also expects to explore Samsung’s technology, construction, battery and cooling capabilities. Those prospective operating relationships are not disclosed as firm revenue contracts, and committed capital should not be confused with completed infrastructure spending.
