LG Display begins mass production of 720Hz gaming OLED panel

LG Display ($LPL) began mass production of a 24.5-inch gaming OLED panel with a 720Hz refresh rate and Full HD resolution. The company reports a response time of 0.02 milliseconds and is targeting competitive gaming, where rapid image updates and motion clarity are important product requirements.

The first announced implementation is an ASUS ROG Swift gaming monitor. LG Display supplies the panel rather than the finished ASUS monitor. The new milestone is manufacturing and customer-product deployment, not merely an earlier discussion of high-refresh display technology. Refresh-rate and response-time specifications are the manufacturer’s claims, and the release did not quantify shipment volumes, contract value or an earnings contribution. Commercial impact will depend on demand for the resulting monitor products.
