Meta expands AI eyewear with camera-free glasses and a new VR device
Meta ($META) and EssilorLuxottica ($EL-EURONEXT) introduced camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses and a third generation of their existing AI eyewear. The partners expect their combined range to exceed 100 styles by year-end and plan to bring Meta’s Muse personal AI agent to the devices. Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 starts at $449, while the audio-only range expands the portfolio beyond camera-equipped products.
Meta separately unveiled VR Glasses planned for spring 2027 at $1,299.99. The company describes an approximately 100-gram eyewear unit with a 5K micro-OLED display and external computing module. The announcements broaden Meta’s hardware strategy, but future availability, product specifications and expected functionality are company disclosures. No sales forecast or guaranteed contribution to either partner’s earnings was provided.
