Microsoft raises quarterly dividend to 98 cents a share

Microsoft’s ($MSFT) board increased the quarterly dividend to $0.98 per share, up $0.07 from the previous $0.91 payment. That represents an increase of approximately 8%. The dividend is payable in December to shareholders on the specified November record date.

The new quarterly rate would equal $3.92 per share over four payments if maintained, although future dividends remain subject to board approval. The announcement is a change in the declared cash distribution, rather than a new share-repurchase authorization or an update to the company’s revenue and earnings outlook. It provides a concrete capital-return change without establishing a forecast for future dividend growth.
