Strategy’s bitcoin gains dominate a sharply higher quarterly profit
Strategy ($MSTR) reported third-quarter 2026 net income attributable to common shareholders of $19.12 billion, or $44.75 per diluted share, compared with $2.65 billion and $8.42 a year earlier. Operating income of $20.91 billion included an equally large gain on digital assets. Revenue from its operating business fell 3% to $125.4 million, underscoring how strongly bitcoin valuation changes now influence reported earnings.
The company ended September with $2.50 billion of cash and equivalents and $3.40 billion of short-term investments. Preferred dividends of $419.6 million reduced the quarter’s income available to common shareholders. Its latest holdings update listed 848,517 bitcoin, but the accounting gains should not be read as equivalent cash generation. Bitcoin is measured at fair value, so changes in its market price can produce substantial swings in future reported results.
