Nasdaq plans a $100 million investment in Kraken parent Payward

Nasdaq ($NDAQ) announced a planned $100 million investment in Payward, the parent of cryptocurrency platform Kraken, through Nasdaq Ventures. The investment expands an existing relationship around market infrastructure and digital assets. The companies intend to deepen their work on the Nasdaq Equity Token framework and technology supporting the connection between traditional securities markets and tokenized financial products.

The partnership also builds on Nasdaq’s market-surveillance capabilities, an established part of its financial-technology business. The transaction is a strategic minority investment, not an acquisition of Kraken or a transfer of Nasdaq’s exchange operations into a crypto platform. The announcement describes planned capital deployment and expanded cooperation; it should not be interpreted as confirmation that every proposed tokenized product is already available or has received all necessary regulatory approvals.
