Newmont lowers cost outlook after strong gold earnings and cash flow
Newmont ($NEM) produced 1.3 million ounces of gold and reported third-quarter 2026 net income of $2.5 billion. Adjusted net income was $2.3 billion, or $2.20 per share, while operating cash flow reached $2.8 billion and free cash flow totaled $1.9 billion. The miner maintained its full-year 2026 gold production target of 5.3 million ounces.
The company improved full-year 2026 by-product cost guidance to $925 per ounce for costs applicable to sales and $1,520 for all-in sustaining costs. It also outlined a $4.2–$4.8 billion capital estimate for the Red Chris block-cave project on a 100% ownership basis, net of an anticipated Canadian grant whose terms remain unfinished. A final investment decision is expected early 2027 and still requires board approval; the project is not yet sanctioned.
