Netlist files new import-ban complaint over Micron AI memory
Netlist ($NLST) initiated a new US International Trade Commission action against Micron ($MU) and downstream customers Nvidia ($NVDA), Broadcom ($AVGO) and Google ($GOOGL), seeking import-exclusion and cease-and-desist orders. The complaint alleges infringement of two high-bandwidth-memory patents and identifies Micron’s HBM3E, HBM4 and HBM4E products. These components serve advanced AI computing, making the requested restrictions potentially relevant to multiple suppliers and customers.
The claims are allegations by Netlist, not findings that the respondents infringed valid patents. No exclusion order or final ruling was announced. This complaint is distinct from an earlier Micron case concerning DDR5 memory modules, which the ITC had already instituted. The new HBM filing broadens the dispute, but its commercial impact depends on whether the commission opens proceedings and ultimately grants relief. The announcement provides no quantified damages, settlement payment or guaranteed licensing revenue.
