P&G holds core earnings outlook despite larger commodity-cost burden

Procter & Gamble ($PG) reported fiscal first-quarter 2027 revenue of $23.28 billion, up 4%, with organic sales also increasing 4%. Volume growth contributed to the improvement, while GAAP earnings reached $1.97 per share and core earnings were $2.00, each approximately 1% above the prior-year period. Operating cash flow totaled $5.8 billion.

The consumer-products group maintained its fiscal 2027 core earnings outlook despite increasing its expected after-tax commodity-cost headwind to $1.4 billion from $1.0 billion. It expects reported sales growth of 2%–4%, reflecting the Thorne acquisition, and organic growth of 1%–3%. The update indicates that productivity and operating performance must absorb a larger input-cost burden. Fiscal-year guidance remains prospective, and reported growth includes acquisition effects that are excluded from the organic comparison.
