Pearson acquires assessment-technology provider Internet Testing Systems

Pearson ($PSON) acquired Internet Testing Systems, a Baltimore-based provider of technology for managing, delivering and reporting assessments. The business will join Pearson’s Professional Assessments division, adding capabilities in areas including remote proctoring, performance-based testing and continuous certification. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The companies have worked together since 2009, so the acquisition brings a long-standing technology partner into Pearson rather than establishing an entirely new commercial relationship. Pearson intends to use the combined tools to support assessment development and delivery across professional markets. The release confirms the purchase but does not quantify expected synergies or revise earnings guidance. The relevant instrument in the supplied list is Pearson’s London-listed PSON, rather than its US depositary-receipt ticker.
