Rivian lifts delivery guidance as software profits offset automotive losses
Rivian ($RIVN) reported third-quarter 2026 revenue of $2.16 billion, up 38% from a year earlier. Consolidated gross profit reached $176 million, compared with $24 million. The mix matters: automotive operations still lost $80 million at the gross-profit level, while software and services generated $256 million of gross profit. Software revenue included $354 million from the Volkswagen ($VOW3) joint venture, representing 59% of that segment’s sales.
The company raised the lower end of its 2026 delivery forecast to 67,000 vehicles, keeping the upper end at 70,000. It now expects an adjusted EBITDA loss of $1.75–1.85 billion and capital expenditure of $1.4–1.5 billion. The narrower loss outlook signals improvement, but lower planned investment partly reflects spending timing, and positive consolidated gross profit does not mean Rivian is profitable overall.
