Rockhopper reports rising development investment ahead of targeted Sea Lion production

Rockhopper ($RKH) reported a first-half shareholder loss of $3.45 million, compared with $50.99 million in the prior period, while property and equipment rose to approximately $405.5 million from $329.2 million at year-end. Cash and equivalents stood at $77.7 million, with a further $69.3 million in term deposits, illustrating the funding committed to its development program.

The company reaffirmed that the operator is targeting first oil from Sea Lion’s initial northern development in the first quarter of 2028, with drilling expected to begin in early 2027. Long-lead manufacturing and island works are progressing. A separate central development remains prospective, with an investment decision targeted for 2028. These operational schedules are forecasts, not current production; the much smaller reported loss should not be interpreted as recurring operating profitability or as eliminating construction and funding-execution risks.
