RTX raises annual forecasts as quarterly sales and defense orders expand

RTX ($RTX) reported quarterly sales of $25 billion, up 11%, with organic growth of 12%. GAAP earnings reached $1.89 per share and adjusted earnings rose 33% to $2.26. The adjusted figure included a $0.25-per-share benefit from tariff recovery. Orders exceeded $81 billion, taking backlog to $340 billion, while operating cash flow was $2.9 billion and free cash flow reached $2.1 billion.

Management increased full-year adjusted sales guidance to $97–97.5 billion from $95–96 billion and adjusted earnings guidance to $7.65–7.75 per share from $7.10–7.25. The free-cash-flow target rose to $9–9.2 billion. These revisions point to stronger expected operating performance, although approximately $300 million of quarterly operating cash flow came from tariff refunds. Backlog supports future activity but does not represent revenue already recognized.
