Starbucks’ comparable sales improve as it sets fiscal 2027 earnings targets

Starbucks ($SBUX) reported fiscal fourth-quarter 2026 global comparable sales growth of 7.2%, combining a 5.2% increase in average spending with 1.8% transaction growth. Revenue fell 4% to $9.1 billion, primarily because its China retail business moved to a licensed joint venture model. GAAP EPS reached $0.59, while adjusted EPS increased 54% to $0.80. Adjusted operating margin was 14.0%.

For fiscal 2027, Starbucks expects adjusted EPS of $3.15–3.25 and North American comparable sales growth of approximately 4%. Reported revenue is forecast to decline about 1%, again reflecting the China transition. The forecast covers a 53-week year, with the extra week contributing slightly more than $0.10 to EPS. That calendar benefit and the changed consolidation perimeter matter when comparing projected growth with the underlying improvement in coffeehouse operations.
