Starbucks plans Chennai technology center with about 800 jobs

Starbucks ($SBUX) plans a technology center in Chennai expected to create approximately 800 jobs, according to a Tamil Nadu government agreement reported by Reuters. The proposed global capability center adds a technology-services operation alongside the company’s Indian retail presence.

Starbucks did not immediately comment. The report disclosed neither a capital-investment amount nor a financial contribution, and the proposed jobs should not be treated as positions already filled. No change to earnings guidance was announced.
