Synopsys signs multi-year custom-silicon collaboration with Amazon
Synopsys ($SNPS) and Amazon ($AMZN) entered a multi-year agreement covering application-optimized semiconductor intellectual property, with Amazon becoming a lead customer for Synopsys’ expanded custom-silicon offering. The collaboration also extends across chip-design software, simulation and AI-enabled engineering, alongside greater use of Amazon Web Services in Synopsys’ own infrastructure.
The agreement gives Synopsys a major customer for a business model intended to capture more value from workload-specific chip designs. Amazon gains access to specialized design components and engineering capabilities as it develops custom computing systems. The companies also plan optimization around AWS Trainium and Graviton and use of services including Amazon Bedrock. Financial terms, minimum purchase commitments and delivery milestones were not disclosed, so the arrangement cannot be translated into guaranteed incremental revenue or an earnings estimate.
