SpaceX Nasdaq 100 weighting confirmed at 2.82%

SpaceX ($SPCX) will account for 2.82% of the Nasdaq 100 when the upcoming quarterly rebalance takes effect, more than double its current weighting of about 1.28%, according to data obtained by Bloomberg. The final calculation uses the preceding closing prices and confirms an earlier provisional estimate. This is confirmation of the final allocation, not a newly announced stock-market listing.

SpaceX's initially small index weighting reflected the limited shares available for public trading when it joined the benchmark. The larger allocation matters to funds that track the Nasdaq 100 because their holdings must reflect the revised composition. It does not change SpaceX's operating earnings, constitute a company share buyback or guarantee a positive share-price reaction.
