Syncona’s Beacon investment reports positive pivotal vision-study results
Syncona ($SYNC)’s portfolio company Beacon Therapeutics reported positive topline results from its Phase II/III VISTA trial of laru-zova for X-linked retinitis pigmentosa. At 12 months, 31% of patients in the high-dose group and 24.1% in the low-dose group achieved an improvement of at least 15 letters on a low-light eye-chart assessment, compared with no responders in the untreated control group.
Both comparisons were statistically significant, meeting the study’s primary endpoint. Beacon described safety as consistent with earlier studies and plans regulatory discussions and a rolling US application. Full data remain forthcoming, and the treatment is not approved. Syncona owns 38.4% of Beacon; its previously reported £183.4 million carrying value predates these results and is not a newly announced valuation.
