Truist Bank schedules early redemption of $850 million of subordinated notes

Truist Bank ($TFC) announced plans to redeem $850 million of subordinated notes on September 30, ahead of their scheduled October 30 maturity. Holders will receive the principal amount plus accrued and unpaid interest through the redemption date. The bank said interest will stop accruing once the notes are redeemed under the notice.

The transaction concerns a debt obligation of Truist Financial’s banking subsidiary, rather than a repurchase of the parent company’s common shares or a special dividend. Redemption is scheduled but has not yet occurred. The announcement specifies the payment mechanics and timing; it does not quantify a new earnings benefit or provide revised business guidance. It is therefore a balance-sheet action, not evidence of a change in customer lending or deposit growth.
